Agrobiodiversity and Plant Breeding

The Agrobiodiversity and Plant Breeding research group aims to contribute to the study and knowledge of genetic diversity in both cultivated and wild species that are related to crops. The conservation and exploitation of said genetic diversity can be attained with genetic improvement strategies, and these constitute the group's main line of research. Specifically, this group is experienced in developing varieties of tomato resistant to disease by molecular marker-assisted selection. Furthermore, it investigates the characterization of organoleptic quality in traditional tomato varieties, employing analytical parameters and methods developed by the group.
